About Macswarm: hosted Macs for coding agents

Macswarm runs hosted Macs, called Pods, where Claude Code and Codex can build iOS apps and drive the Simulator. This page says who operates the service, why it exists, how we check what we publish and how to reach us.

What is Macswarm?

Macswarm is a hosted Mac service for coding agents. Its unit is the Pod: a macOS virtual machine on a dedicated Apple silicon Mac mini with the Latest Xcode and the previous major version, current and previous iOS runtimes, three to four pre-booted Simulators, Claude Code, Codex and XcodeBuildMCP. A Pod belongs to one developer, whose Claude Code and Codex sessions share it, each in its own git worktree; two to three active agents per standard Pod are guaranteed. Pods boot from a golden image, make outbound connections only and are destroyed ten minutes after the last session ends. The Macs run in the Netherlands (EU) or the US, chosen per environment. Billing is by Pod-hour, metered per second: Free includes 3 Pod-hours once, Pro is $99 a month for 300, Team is $399 a month for 1,500, and Enterprise reserves Macs from $3,000 a month. Anthropic or OpenAI bills model usage separately. See pricing and Inside a Pod.

Who runs Macswarm?

The website macswarm.com and the Macswarm service are operated by Daria Chastokolenko, an individual entrepreneur (FOP) registered in Ukraine, 91 Shevchenka Boulevard, Cherkasy, Ukraine. The terms of service name the same operator as the party you contract with, and the privacy policy names it as the controller of your personal data.

Macswarm owns and operates the Apple hardware the Pods run on. Data-center operators in the Netherlands and the US house the Macs; they and the other processors are listed in the privacy policy and on the security page.

Macswarm opened early access on 24 October 2026, as the changelog records. Early-access sign-ups are onboarded in order, and dashboard labels may change before general availability. Early access carries no uptime commitment and there is no status page yet; Enterprise contracts can include a service-level agreement. Macswarm does not currently hold a SOC 2 report or an ISO 27001 certificate.

Why does Macswarm exist?

Xcode and Apple’s iOS Simulator run only on macOS, so where an agent’s session executes decides whether it can build an iOS app. Anthropic documents its hosted Claude Code cloud sessions as Ubuntu 24.04 virtual machines on x86_64 (Configure cloud environments), and says the Desktop app’s Simulator pane is “available in local sessions only” (Test iOS apps in the simulator). OpenAI’s current Codex cloud documentation does not establish that Xcode is available, and its legacy default image describes a Linux environment.

Both vendors let a session run somewhere else. Anthropic’s self-hosted environments run Claude Code cloud sessions on infrastructure your organization operates, for Claude Team and Enterprise organizations, in public beta. OpenAI’s Agents API self-hosted sandboxes let a webhook you register provide the environment. Macswarm provides that environment as a Pod, where the agent builds with xcodebuild, leases a pre-booted Simulator and drives it through XcodeBuildMCP.

Not everyone needs this. If you own a Mac and run one agent at a time, Claude Code Desktop’s Simulator pane and the Codex app already work on your hardware. Run Claude Code and Codex on a cloud Mac compares Pods with rented Mac minis, per-minute Macs and Xcode Cloud, and says where each one is the better choice.

How do we check what we publish?

This is the editorial policy for every page on macswarm.com.

  • Vendor facts come from the vendor. A competitor’s price or feature is taken from that vendor’s own public page, linked next to the number, with the date we checked it.
  • We say where the other product is better. Comparisons and guides state when a Mac you already own, a rented Mac mini, a per-minute Mac or Xcode Cloud fits better than a Pod.
  • Claims about other products link to their documentation. Statements about Anthropic, OpenAI and Apple products quote or link the vendor’s own pages, and our product facts link to the docs page that defines them.
  • Every page carries a review date. Its facts are rechecked when the product or a vendor’s prices change.
  • Articles are reviewed before they go live. A separate editorial review checks each draft against our product documentation and the cited sources, drafts are held until the corrections are made, and the owner approves a preview before publication. We keep a written record of each review.
  • Nothing is invented. We do not publish invented customers, testimonials, ratings, certifications or partnerships. “Works with Claude Code and Codex” means Macswarm connects through interfaces Anthropic and OpenAI publish, as the trademark notices explain. Where a security control does not exist yet, the security page says so.
